I love the use of sleek, masculine black panthers in art deco design. This is a 1950’s example signed by the artist, Weiss Wago. The color black was introduced into design in the roaring 20’s and was much welcomed after Edwardian white. The art deco period featured many animals including serpents, fish, rams and other exotic creatures but the panther was a main focus and featured in Cartier’s famous panther jewelry designs. Every fashionable home should feature several animal influenced designs and the panther is a great addition.
