I love this gorgeous pair of green and gold Sommerso glass bowls. They are a fabulous example of the Sommerso Murano style and would add a needed pop of color to a table. The comination of a hexagonal smaller piece and the larger clover shaped bowl is the perfect combination of organic shapes. These wonderful colors blend easily with most design schemes.
I have a lot of Murano glass and I love putting different groups of matching colors in rooms to add color, light and texture to a space. These would look fabulous on a stack of books on a table or on a console. I also would love to see them on dressing table holding various bits and bobs.
It is believed that glassmaking in Murano originated in 8th century Rome, with significant Asian and Muslim influences, as Venice was a major trading port. Murano’s reputation as a center for glassmaking was born when the Venetian Republic, fearing fire and destruction of the city’s mostly wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. This collection of various colors and styles is sublime and adds the modern splash of color and light necessary for the chic home. Individual pieces are available for sale.
