Murano Yellow and White Vase, Bowl and Ashtray Collection c 1960’s

This is a wonderful collection of yellow and white glass ashtrays and a vase. All so very different but have the same color tones that would match with most interiors and brighten a room. The elegant swirl in vase is lovely while the white dots in one of the ashtrays and folded ashtrays are whimsical. A gorgeous and very stylish grouping.

It is believed that glassmaking in Murano originated in 8th century Rome, with significant Asian and Muslim influences, as Venice was a major trading port. Murano’s reputation as a center for glassmaking was born when the Venetian Republic, fearing fire and destruction of the city’s mostly wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. I love Murano glass. This collection of various colors and styles is sublime and adds the modern splash of color and light necessary for the chic home.
